Capital Smart City Merger to DHA
In recent news, there has been a confirmation of a merger between the Capital Smart City Islamabad and Defence Housing Authority Islamabad – Rawalpindi (DHAI-R). This has put to rest all the rumors and doubts circulating the city about the news of a joint venture between the two. After the official notification being issued, the news has now been confirmed to be true.
There have been talks of renaming the Capital Smart City Islamabad as DHA Smart City, though the rumors are yet to be confirmed. DHA is to manage the huge project on shareholding basis. The official document regarding this was signed by the chairperson of Future Development Holding Private Limited and the vice president of DHAI-R on 30th of November, 2018.
Islamabad has the honor of being the first smart city of Pakistan. It has been designed and redesigned taking into consideration the explosively growing population the increasing trend of rural to urban migration – especially in the cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The design was approved after viewing the environmental considerations and in hopes of giving the people a better quality life in terms of residence and business.
