What do we mean by Apartments?
The word apartment originates from American English. This is known as a flat or unit. It is a self-contained housing place for living purposes. It usually located in buildings but it could be a single-story house as well. The housing occupancy of apartments always diverges from large-scale public housing where many people live in the same building but own different small or big units or apartments, to owner occupancy which represents a single owner house. Flat” vs “apartment”
Many people confuse the term apartment with a flat. Flat and apartments represent a residential place that has its own front door, kitchen, toilet, and bedrooms. In some areas of Pakistan, we take the word apartment as a place that is for the purpose of living in a building. Whereas the word flat represents a converted unit in an older building, usually a big house along with a parking area and lawns. The term apartment usually used in North America to represent a living place. In contrast, UK takes this term apartment to represent the professional real estate and architectural circle.
Types of apartments in Lahore:
- Dream Garden Apartment:
Dream Garden apartments are such apartments that are organized around courtyards, open usually and more commonly at one end. Such a garden apartment has its own unique characteristics and they have more rent than any other small apartment:
- They have their own building entrance to their main doors.
- Each such apartment occupies only one level. Which means that they are only located on the ground floors
- Such garden apartment buildings are almost never more than three stories high sometimes which means that in one courtyard they will share one common lawn are, therefore they characteristically have no elevators.
- Basement apartment
Generally, on the lowest floor of one large building. Such a building has other different apartments on the upper stories.
- Multifamily apartment
Salon apartment is a term which usually represents the high-class apartments built for multi-family houses or joint system family. The design of such apartments comprises a centrally located hall and a combined dining area with separate rooms. They are a very common category of apartments for rent in Lahore.
- Penthouse
They are those apartments which are usually located on the top floor of a very high apartment building. They have many elevators and presents a very beautiful view of the Lahore. Now a day they are located in many areas of Lahore and attract people with their unique architecture.
- Communal apartment
In the city of Pakistan, Lahore a communal apartment has one single room that has a shared kitchen and bath which is attached to it. Students or single job person always prefer such apartments as it is easy to maintain.
Provided facilities in all the apartments:
- Laundry Rooms:
Apartments which are offered for rent are sometimes furnished, they have furniture or sometimes unfurnished into which people shift with their own furniture. They have laundry rooms separately when the apartments have a big area with washing machines and without washing machines when people rent unfurnished apartments.
- Internet:
A connection to telephones is normally included in apartments for internet purposes now a day. People who rent the apartment have to pay their own bills for internet service. In some rare cases they have to pay the bill to the owner for security purposes.
- Cable connection:
For entertainment purposes, they have a cable connection for television. Such apartments with all these facilities cost higher than the apartment which has no such facility.
- Parking space:
The apartment building has a parking space for the people usually in the basement of the building.
- Air conditioning:
This facility is not very common as it always depends on the demands and needs of the customer. But there are apartments who are fully central air conditions as Pakistan has a long summer season so it becomes a kind of basic need for living peacefully.
- Security system:
Apartments have their own security systems with full camera coverage and have a staff who is continually monitoring and guards on every story. Such buildings do not let anyone come inside without verification. In some areas, they demand ID cards as well to keep the complete record.
- Trash containers:
Buildings have trash bins that are similar to those used at houses and they have service to dispose of it.
